The Sept-Chutes Regional Park offers the most beautiful viewpoints in the Matawinie region. With its breathtaking landscape on the Laurentian Mountains, it is a great classic of hiking in the area. Between the maple grove of Mont Barrière (610 meters) and the rocky ridges of Mont Brassard (650 meters), you will find unique and diversified landscapes.

Come take a walk in the wilderness! The trails and nature interpretation panels will make you discover the richness of the park’s flora and fauna and the distinct features of its exceptional landscapes.
The trail along the restless Noire River invites you to start your hike. As you follow it, take a moment to admire the “Voile de la Mariée” waterfall, with its impressive 60 meters (200 feet) height. Then, continue on the trail that will lead you to the small Guy Lake. From there, explore Mont Brassard and Mont Barrière.
The Mont Brassard trail offers spectacular views of the Noire River valley, Lake Rémi, and the high hills of Saint-Zénon. It will lead you to the top of a rocky peak overlooking Route 131 and the Lake Rémi cliff. You will be about 365 meters (1,200 feet) above road level and 590 meters (1,935 feet) above sea level! During your hike, you can also see a red pine forest and a black spruce forest, called “pessière noire”.
The Mont Barrière trail will take you through different ecosystems, including a maple grove. Once you reach the top, contemplate the valley of the Noire River.
The last part of the trail will take you around the magnificent Lake Rémi and bring you to the foot of its impressive 150 meters (500 feet) high cliff.
The Lake Jerome loop also offers a challenging 14 km (7.5 mi.) hike for those wishing to explore this newer part of the park.

Shuttle service from Montreal

Departure will be near the Radisson metro station at 8 A.M. Stops will be made along the way. Expect to arrive at the Ouareau Forest Regional Park in the served area on the chosen date. Remember to bring a lunch, appropriate clothing for the season and a bottle of water. The activity will end in the afternoon and you will be back in Montreal at around 6:30 P.M.

Sept-Chutes Regional Park
ACCESS AND STAYING FEES
- All persons accessing the regional park and using infrastructures or services for which a fee applies must register and pay the required fees.
DOMESTIC ANIMALS
- Domestic animals are allowed in a regional park, provided that they are kept on a leash not exceeding two (2) meters in length at all times, with the exception of public beaches, as well as on the cross-country ski trails of the Ouareau Forest Regional Park during the winter period.
- At all times, the owner must pick up their animal’s droppings and dispose of them in an appropriate place.
- The animals must not enter the buildings (reception area, sanitary block, shelter, etc.) at any time.
- Animals must be under constant supervision of the owner.
CAMPING/SHELTER STAY
- Camping in a regional park is prohibited other than in areas specifically designated for that purpose.
- It is forbidden to camp in a regional park without having paid the camping fee.
- The arrival time for short stays is between 3:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.
- All persons camping in the park must vacate their campsite by 12:00 noon on the last day of their stay. The site must be left in the same condition as when you arrived.
CAMPING SITE
- A campsite may contain one (1) piece of camping equipment and two (2) vehicles, with the exception of sites determined by the park administration, which may receive additional equipment.
CURFEW AND QUIET TIME
- The curfew is from 11:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M. During this period, no noise that could be heard from the neighboring site is permitted within the campsites.
SPECIFIC MEASURES FOR DRONES
- In order to minimize the impact on the guest experience and wildlife, the use of drones for recreational purposes is not permitted in regional parks.
