Saint-Michel-des-Saints

One of the largest lakes near Montreal, Lac Taureau is an immense reservoir with 270 kilometers of shoreline and 95 km² of surface area. Its 45 islands and numerous fine sandy beaches make it an exceptional vacation spot, especially for nautical activities and camping.

The many bays and 32 kilometers of sandy shores that make up Lac Taureau offer the best conditions for swimming and boating. Feel like a cruise? Take advantage of the knowledge of our captains and sailors aboard the Saindon flyboat and enjoy the unique experience of one of our 3 thematic cruises.

Not far from Montreal, Pointe-Fine Beach reminds us of the infinite beaches seen in warmer countries.

Summer season

Beaches and swimming

With its 32 kilometers of sandy shores, the Lac Taureau beaches are among the most beautiful that Quebec has to offer. No wonder why they are so popular during the summer season! Boaters will be delighted by the wild beaches that are often easily reachable from their boats. Campers can enjoy close access to their site and facilities. Day swimmers are not left out since many beaches are accessible by road.

Baie-Dominique trail:

To enjoy the most beautiful views of Lac Taureau, hike the Baie-Dominique trails. With a total length of 4.6 km, it is also possible to complete a 3.1 km loop.

Baie-du-Milieu trail:

A trail is now available in the Baie-du-Milieu Sector. This 5.5 km long trail joins the Baie-Dominique trail and offers a breathtaking view of the Baie-du-Milieu. A lookout has been built to admire the landscape.

Lac Taureau trails:

Developed in partnership with the Auberge du Lac Taureau, this network includes 23 km of multifunctional trails (hiking, mountain biking) for beginner and intermediate levels. Don’t miss the popular Beach Trail, which links the Baie-du-Milieu to the Auberge du Lac Taureau.

l’Île Jaune trail:

A walking trail around the island through mature forest, beaches, and exceptionally humid environments. Two lookouts complete this hike.

Île du Village trail:

This interpretation trail opens a page of the region’s history. Discover the Île du Village and the tragic history of Saint-Ignace-du-Lac, a village that disappeared under the water when the Taureau reservoir was created in 1931. Interpretation panels will help you discover this particular history of the region. IMPORTANT: Access by watercraft only or by Lake Taureau Cruises

Nautical activities

With its 95 km² surface area, it is not surprising that Lac Taureau is so popular among nautical activities enthusiasts. Motorized or not, your expedition on this large and magnificent body of water will make you discover the immensity of the territory from another point of view.

Winter season

Snowshoeing

As of winter 2025, the park has 3 tiny chalets for you to rent in the Baie-du-Milieu Campsite. The guests staying in these chalets can access the surrounding trails.

Lake Taureau trails:
Developed in partnership with the Auberge du Lac Taureau, this network combines over 23 km of multifunctional trails (snowshoes, dogsleds, cross-country skis, mountain bikes) varying from beginner to advanced levels. Don’t miss out on the popular Plage trail which connects the Baie-du-Milieu to the Auberge du Lac Taureau and the Baie-du-Milieu Trail. The latter allows you to reach the Baie-Dominique Trail. A belvedere offers a breathtaking view of the Baie-du-Milieu. Check out the map here.

A seasonal customer with two (2) or more pieces of equipment will be charged 639.27$ at la Baie du Milieu and 587.08$ at la Baie du Poste and Baie des Embranchements for each additional piece of equipment (seasonal).
Additional equipment (traveler): 30.44$/night, if the site allows it.
